US continues to struggle with Children’s Rights Treaty ratification

March 24th, 2009

It has certainly been on the table for a long time but the United States still remain one of two countries that has yet to ratify its Children’s Rights Treaty. In a country that has laws to protect all minorities it should be a no-brainier to quickly pass a law that protects the well being of their own children. The hold up seems to be that the new laws are full of conflicting moral issues and even have personal political agendas within it. While all those in power seek to protect the kids the means to get there are in question. Neither side wants to give in to the other on many key points.
